Maison de Mére is a home for teenage girls who are pregnant or parenting a child. The home can house up to seven teenagers and their children. All residents are in the protective custody of the State, each with a history of abuse or neglect in their backgrounds. This program requires that each resident is in an educational program and, when possible, employed. The program actively works to break the cycle of abuse through its intense parenting and independent living skills training. The residents can live at Maison de Mére with their children until they reach eighteen years of age. Assistance from the staff in locating permanent housing and furnishings is provided prior to departure. With the skills learned at Maison de Mére, the mothers will leave with the tools necessary to raise their child in a nurturing environment. We are always in need of diapers, wet wipes, paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, etc.), non-perishables and canned goods. |
