Stepping Stones: Acadiana Shelter for Girls
Stepping Stones: Acadiana Shelter for Girls is a large residence that provides housing for up to twenty girls from twelve through eighteen years of age. The facility is state-of-the-art and was built specifically with the needs of teenage girls in mind. All of the girls entering this program have a history of child abuse, and many have been in numerous foster homes. The girls are enrolled in public or vocational school, and they receive many needed services while at the shelter. These services include group and individual therapy, tutoring, and independent living skills training. In addition, the girls are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities at school, and the shelter offers many recreational activities of its own. Residents may remain in the program until they are eighteen or until another suitable placement is found. We are always in need of paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, etc.), non-perishable items and canned goods.
